Sail Away

There is something magical about making paper boats and setting them sail down the river. It’s a timeless activity that children have always loved. My kiddos are no exception, making paper boats is one of their favourite things. The woods and river at Errdig where we often go walking are like a little fairy land, it’s almost other-worldly there. You can forget about anything else and imagine you’ve been transported far, far away. Folding the paper boats, we whisper them full of our wishes and dreams, and decorated the outsides with little pictures.

It was a quite and peaceful evening when we went to sail, quiet except for birdsong. We set the boats free and watched them sail away, willing them over the dam, and watched them sail away and out of sight.

The girls kept their fingers crossed that a fairy would find their boat full of wishes and dreams on it’s journey and make them come true :)

What a gorgeous post – fabulous pictures and a wonderful reminder of the simple pleasures in life that children enjoy so much. I haven’t done this in years but i know for a fact that my son (and probably daughters too!) would love it :)
