Birthday (Party) Guest Post: Trina from Feed the Birdies

Hello, Pixie Mama friends!  I am Trina from Feed the Birdies.  I met Polly a few months ago, and she was super sweet to ask me to guest post for her month long birthday celebration.  Happy Birthday, Polly!  I love to paper craft, and birthday celebrations are one of the most fun parties to craft for.  I am also very thrifty, and I love to either make things myself or shop estate sales and thrift shops for things that I need.  About a year ago, my daughter turned 4, and just like every little girl, she fell in love with Disney princesses.  We decided that she needed a grand tea party with her little girlfriends to celebrate her birthday, so I started paper crafting and working on all the little accessories we would need a few months in advance.
Since her birthday is in March, I was able to shop the Valentine clearance at Target, and bought each little girl a huge stuffed puppy (for only $2.50 each!!) to sit at their place setting on the table.
We put a tag around each puppy’s neck with the little girl’s name on it.
I also made a paper bunting using my Big Shot die cut machine and pretty patterned papers I had stashed.  Of course, our table needed a Martha Stewart paper tissue pom pom, so we made a few of those.
I found the printed fabric that is on the table at WalMart for only $1 per yard, and I added the pink pom pom trim I had in my stash to the ends of it, and, Voila! A pretty table cloth.
We brought in her ice cream table iron chairs and I the long table underneath is actually my mid century coffee table that we moved into the kitchen.  We used a butterfly cookie cutter to make fluffernutter sandwiches and had fresh strawberries and cupcakes with toppers that we made using more patterned papers and a scallop circle punch.
We also served strawberry lemonade so the girls would have something pink to drink. We had stations set up in the living area for the girls to have their nails painted and their hair fixed if they wanted to.  My mother made crocheted flower headbands for them to take home with their puppies.  So cute!  The biggest and best surprise for my little girl’s party, was that my cousin rented a Cinderella costume and surprised even me when she showed up at the party as Cinderella!

I cried when I opened the door.  Isn’t she beautiful?  Katie was so surprised as well, and all the little girls were just in awe when Cinderella showed up.  The whole party cost me less than $50, and it was a grand affair!  So, Polly, I hope that your birthday is fit for a princess, and thank you so much for letting me join you!  And, if you are one of Polly’s friends, come visit me at Feed the Birdies.  I’d love to meet you!

I met Trina a while back when I won a dress she was giving away. I love her blog where she talks about her life and her family. I’m so grateful she wanted to take part in my birthday celebrations!!!
