It’s never too late

It’s less than six months to my 40th birthday. The kiddos think it’s hilarious that I’ll be 40… to them, 40 is old. I can remember being a teenager, and seeing 40-year-olds and thinking they looked like ‘proper grown-ups’ – ya know, with all their shit together.

And now it’s me who’s almost a proper grown-up. Only I’m not sure I am or that I have all my shit together. But I realised that does anyone?! Not really.

Does my life look like I expected it to at 40? In many ways no, but I think I am exactly where I am supposed to be. The biggest lesson I have learned is

It is never too late.

It is never too late to start over. Never too late to be who you want to be. To creat the life that you want. To do all the things that you haven’t gotten around to doing.

I am FINALLY learning to drive.

I am embarking on studies to retrain in a whole new career.

All those things you said you’d do? DO THEM.

The things you want to learn. LEARN THEM.

The life you long for? CREAATE IT.

There is no such thing as too late. Who says you can’t change your whole life halfway through? Stop thinking about the years ‘wasted’ and see them as experience – they have gotten you to the person you are today.

I am so excited about this whole new world I am creating. I can feel it and see it and hear it. A world that will have so many possibilities on the other side of a couple of years of hard work.

As a Mama I think it sets an amazing example to my kiddos to show that you can do whatever you put your mind to. That you can create the life you want. That you can start over again even when you are old. Or not so old.

I don’t believe in regrets. Life is too short to do anything but look forwards. Whatever your dreams are – start chasing them.
