Life Lately – Crunchy leaves, road trips and late birthday parties
Hello October {yes, I know it’s almost half way over already}. I seriously am starting to question my own sanity over how fast the months are flying by this year! I’m certain someone pressed the superspeed button, it’s a little scary – Christmas and Beastie’s birthday are both around the corner, and I’d swear they were only five minutes ago. I feel like I’ve not had much time to pop in here recently, at least not just to say Hi,
Last weekend we took a last minute road trip back to Lincoln to visit G’s Mum who’s been ill. It was nice to get a mini break, and to catch up with them. We got to see their new house at last too! We managed to sneak in a drive around the city before we left too – to see some old haunts and the sights we loved when we lived there. It’s mad that it’s been 12 years since we lived in Lincoln. I’m thinking of trying to get a longer break there soon, a staycation away from home, some time to catch up with family and re-visit our old home town.
It’s turned pretty chilly, especially first thing in the mornings, and by dinner time it’s dark and cold. I’m really missing having an open fire again now. Thankfully, the days have been fairly sunny and not too cold. We’ve been making the most of these crisp autumn days and getting out for some walks. Beastie has discovered the joy of jumping in piles of crunchy leaves and he LOVES blowing dandelion clocks too. We keep popping to the play park, burning off some energy and enjoying being able to play outside before it gets really cold. Beastie picked this flower at the weekend, from his Grandma and Taid’s garden – we’ll forget that I said to just smell the flower and not pick it!
I treated myself to this Hygee book the other week, I’ve read lots on Hygee and am a little obsessed ,but this book is by far my favourite. It actually kinda makes me want to emigrate Denmark {this is me who hates the cold!!}
Miss Kiki finally had a birthday party this past weekend. Only 6 weeks late! She had a bunch of friends round for a movie and pizza party, there was a LOT of giggling, but I think they all had fun. She opted to have birthday doughnuts rather than a cake too!
I’ve been lusting over these gorgeous necklaces for ages, and have never gotten around to actually treating myself {we all know Mum’s seem to come last on the treat list}. Anyway, this week the lovely Beth who makes them sent me this gorgeous mustard number! I think it’s my new favourite thing, and I can see me wearing it all winter long. You can check out her shop over on Folksy here
SO that’s been the last couple of weeks for us! Tell me something fun you’ve been up to?

October 14, 2016 at 19:43Loving that yellow necklace, I adore mustard with stripes! And yes, autumn is such a wonderful season – I don’t feel we’ve had enough misty and crisp mornings though. When I lived in the countryside for a job once I had the most amazing drives across the moor to work. Sadly central London doesn’t quite deliver the same :)
