Mama Style: Wrapping up warm for the winter.
I
It seems to rain from September until about June living here in North Wales, and for years I only had a ‘showerproof’ floral raincoat – that in truth didn’t keep me dry in the slightest little bit but looked pretty! I’ve finally given in and decided that as I’m a fully fledged grown-up I need a decent coat that will keep me warm and dry. I’ve been wearing this Waxy Jacket from House of Fraser for the past week and it has been great. The coat is really warm and cosy, but not too warm – I know that sounds crazy, but as much as I hate being cold I hate being too hot {awkward much}. Especially if we’re going to the shops, it’s cold outside and boiling inside. This coat has been perfect. The fact it’s waxed means it doesn’t get wet through with every little bit of rain too.
It has a great big hood too which has proved great on these rainy days, some hoods seem to barely cover my head, this one is large and keeps me nice and dry, and the fur trim keeps me toasty and warm too ;) The coat has nice deep pockets – great to fill with ‘mum stuff’ – tissues, gloves, lipbalms, toys and pinecones…! Most of all I love that this coat is casual enough for everyday wear, but it’s not like a scruffy mum coat ;)
I’ve been living in jeans lately, warm legs and they’re practical for crawling around on the floor with the Beastie. I bought a couple of new sweaters at H&M as I was in need of some more long-sleeved, breastfeeding-friendly tops for the winter. These and the coat, paired with my trusy old Clarks boots are pretty much my Mum uniform every day right now.
