Salted Caramel Coffee Syrup Recipe

I’m having a love affair with salted caramel right now… I’ll take it in any form I can get it – chocolate bars, fudge, hot chocolate, profiteroles…. I’m not fussy!

I like to whip up a latte mid-morning, and I often make batches of syrup to sweeten it with {such as this delicious gingerbread one}. So it made sense to make a salted caramel coffee syrup, no?!

While caramel can be tricky to get just right, as this is just a syrup for coffee it was fairly foolproof – no faffing about with candy thermometers! And I can report back that it did indeed taste perfectly delicious in my morning coffee!

Y O U ‘ L L N E E D:
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup water
1tsp vanilla extract
Pinch sea salt

I N S T R U C T I O N S:

Place the sugar and 1/4 cup of the water in a pan over a low heat. Stir until the sugar has dissovelved. Cover the pan and turn the heat up to medium/high for two minutes. Then uncover the pan and cook, stirring continuosly, until the mixture turns a amber colour. Stir in the vanilla and salt et voila!

I usually pop a teaspoon or two in the pan with some milk, heat through, whisk and pour over my coffee. The syrup also works great in iced coffee too.

    Mmm this sounds amazing and I don’t know whether it’s because autumn is setting in but i am suddenly craving sweet stuff and blankets and cosy nights at home. x

    Yum! I don’t drink coffee but would totally drink this in hot milk! I love salted caramel at the moment too, I ate an entire bar of salted caramel Galaxy chocolate last weekend, so good x

    I love coffee and it never occurred to me to make my own syrup but this sounds so easy and delicious – would make fab xmas presents, packaged up in little bottles too xx

    I am not a coffee person, but I adore salted caramel and this would be perfect with my chai latte that I have on a daily basis
