Celebrating Imbolc

Imbolc is always one of my favourite Sabbats. After a long winter, Imbolc – the mid-way point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox, is always a welcome sign.

This is a time when winter is starting to wind down, but it is still cold and sometimes snowy; spring is hiding around the corner, but quite arrived. This is the season of the goddess Brighid, who keeps the hearth fires burning and watches over domestic life and the home.

It is a time when nature starts to grow again, when the light and life returns. It’s a great time to clear away the stagnation of winter and prepare for new growth.

It’s a day that I like to celebrate in simple ways, marking the day with my kiddos. We’ll take a nature walk, sow some seeds {both literal and metaphoical}, set our intentions and celebrate with some delicious food.

As the first shoots of spring push through the ground, may your projects begin to bloom and grow. May Goddess Brigid show us insiration on our path of continuing growth towards increasing the light.
