A little bit of normal

Life seems to have suddenly cranked up a gear. After four months of not really going further than the river, and not seeing anyone, we’ve jumped back into a semi-normal life with gusto.

It’s been so good to be able to see friends again, for the kiddos to run around with their mates and see their smiles afterward. But for me too, to have adult conversations face-to-face, it’s reminded me just how precious a thing that is, how much we need to spend time with our friends, how good we feel afterward.

We’ve also managed a couple of days out. One to Erddig, our local National Trust property, then a day to Liverpool and finally Chester Zoo.

Getting back to some of our favourite places has been so amazing. It’s never felt so good to just go walk around some gardens, visit a museum or take a trip to the zoo.

Oren really loved the zoo, I doubt he remembers his previous visits, he walked around nearly the whole zoo and was fascinated by all the animals.

While obviously there are differences to be seen, more queues, face masks, pre-booking, etc it never felt weird or uncomfortable or unsafe anywhere we’ve been.

Kiki and Baya are most excited about finally getting to go back to gymnastics – they have their first outdoor session tomorrow. We went for a walk/picnic with their gymnastics group last Saturday and it’s safe to say all the kiddos were happy to see each other.

I’m thankful for these little pockets of normality, the break from busy life was nice for a while, but really we are all so ready for life to resume, to see friends and return to groups, to have days out and hopefully a camping trip soon!
