Hotel Interior Design Inspiration to Use in Your Home

Do you ever find yourself going on holiday, staying in a glorious hotel and wishing you could just live there? Well, while this would be an incredibly expensive idea and not that practical, there are plenty of ways you can bring some of the hotel home with you (and not by stealing the towels). After all, a hotel is essentially a temporary home for most travellers. From the bed to the marble staircase, decorations and more, there are plenty of hotel interior design ideas you can replicate in your home.

Focus on Symmetry

You hopefully haven’t ever been to a messy hotel, or if you have it probably wasn’t the best experience. That’s because a lot of effort goes into keeping the place tidy and on the layout and design. What makes so many hotel lobbies so attractive to guests is that they usually have a symmetrical feel to them. This brings balance to the space and is simple to do in your living room by having two chairs facing or next to each other with a centrepiece of a table or sofa between them, for example.

Add Some Lavish Rugs

Luxurious carpets that most hotels have (or the stylish wooden floors) can be costly. Instead, to add a bit of class you could cover up any dull or old carpets with a couple of luxury rugs. Many second-hand shops will stock a few decent ones that just need a good clean or you might be able to find some that match any of your rooms online. Especially when placed at the bottom of your stairs it can be really effective.

Go All Out with Your Bed

The highlight of many hotel stays will be the bed, so don’t just settle for a standard double in your master suite (sorry, bedroom). Furniture Plus has a great range of wooden king size beds that will be comfortable and instantly improve the ambience of your bedroom. Invest in a thick cover and royal coloured bed spreads to complete the effect and it’ll feel like you’re sleeping in a hotel every night (though you’ll have to wash the bed sheets yourself).

Use Neutral Colours in the Bathroom

In order to replicate the light, bright and clean atmosphere you get at most hotel spas, use neutral colours when decorating your bathroom to achieve this. From the walls and fixtures to towels, mirrors and any other decorations, everything should fall under the same light tone. This doesn’t just mean white tiles and walls; consider introducing light coloured woods such as bamboo chairs and more.

Treat Yourself like Guests

Think about your favourite elements of being a hotel guest and copy these in your home design. It could be something as simple as having a table with a kettle and biscuits in your room which, if there’s space, is really easy to do. Or if it’s an en suite bathroom then depending on your home’s shape and size, it might take some extra planning.

Bringing the hotel into your home doesn’t have to be an expensive or impossible endeavour, with the above ideas hopefully providing some inspiration.
