Ten things to do in London with kids
One of the things on our ‘to-do’ list this year is a trip to London. It’s been on the list for a looooong time, but this year is the year it will finally happen. I’m hoping to get at least a couple of nights there, maybe three {any tips for affordable accommodation?!}. Now Beastie is a little bigger, I think it will be easier as he’ll get something out of it.
The kiddos have already started making lists of what they would like to see and do whilst we’re there, though given how long the lists are getting, we may need to spend a whole month there. I’m trying to make sure everyone gets to do something that they want to, though we won’t be able to fit it all in of course {we’ll just have to go back again!}
I’m trying to balance out activities/places that cost with things that are free. I’ve started looking out on Groupon for great deals on top London activities, Groupon is a great place to snag some amazing deals – I’m hoping to save us a few pennies on our trip by buying deals ahead of time on there for some of the items on our list.
So far, here are the top ten things on our ‘must-do’ list when we go to London!
1| Camden Market ~ I’m pulling Mama rank, and putting this in number one. As a teenager, I used to go to London all the time, and loved nothing more than a browse around Camden Market. I can’t wait to go back again! I better get saving some pennies so I can do some shopping whilst there!
2| Tower of London ~ I’ve not been since I was a kid, and my eldest is history obsessed, so she is dying to see the Tower after reading so much about it!
3| Platform 9
4| London Eye ~ they’ve been asking to go on this for a while, but after reading last month’s book club book which was called ‘The London Eye’ mystery, they’re even more eager to go for a ride on the Eye!
5| British Museum ~ I’m grateful my kids enjoy going to Museums, and there are so many to choose from in London! The British Museum is coming out as favourite at the moment though.
6| Bus Tour ~ with limited time, we’re thinking that a bus tour around the city would be a fantastic way to see more of the landmarks than we could cover by foot. I like the idea of the ‘hop on and off’ buses, so we can use it as a way to get between other items on our list too.
7| Oxford Street ~ as a kid, we often went to London just before Christmas, I remember seeing all the amazing Christmas lights along Oxford Street every year. With one shopping obsessed eleven year old, a shopping excursion here is on the cards, plus everyone wants to go to Hamleys!
8| West End Show ~ i’ve been a few times to London to watch shows, and I think my kiddos would love to see one there. I’m thinking maybe the Lion King.
9| Madame Tussauds ~ I’ve wanted to go for years {since I was a kid and wasn’t allowed to go with my brother and father}, and the kids are keen to visit and see some wax figures.
10| Picnic in the Park ~ with so many parks to choose from, we definitely have to have at least one picnic lunch. I’m thinking Hyde Park, though St James park is a contender too!
Have you been to London with your kids? What are your must see’s/do’s?
