Childhood film heros and heroines

Growing up, I was never especially interested in Disney or princesses, I wasn’t the girliest girl, who longed to marry a price, have a big wedding and live in a palace. That seemed a little boring to me, I wanted the adventures and excitement that Princesses never seemed to get… except for Princess Jasmine. She came across a little differently. SO when HMV asked me to share a childhood hero/heroine, I knew that Jasmine was my choice.

Jasmine is sassy, independent, and hot-tempered, but she is also sweet, kind, generous and cunning. There is barely a moment where she is seen not standing up for herself. She is a strong and fierce young woman, and although she doesn’t succeed at everything, I think that this makes her a better role model than those seemingly “perfect”princesses who always defeat the bad guy without a struggle.

I think that Jasmine is great role model for girls – showing you can have your freedom and make your own decisions about your life. She is gorgeous but I think that her personality makes her the best of the Disney Princesses.

I love that she is feisty, not afraid to speak her mind and can see past people’s appearances to who they really are. Take Aladdin for example – she tricked him by saying, “It’s a shame Abu had to miss him” into getting him to reveal his true nature. And then when she found out he was a street rat, she still loved him.
