Playing hooky – a day at the river

river

Yesterday we decided to drop everything and head down to the river for the afternoon. I packed up a picnic, we stopped one the way for some treats and spent the afternoon chilling out and having fun. We forgot about our giant to-do list of moving house prep, and left the stresses behind…. it was exactly what we all needed.

The girls had a great time, it was a little cloudy but still warm enough – though from their squeals I think the water was a *little* bit on the chilly side! They still managed three hours of splashing, treasure hunting and game playing. Master Vega had a great time – he was fascinated by all their was to see, loved watching his sisters playing and the feel of grass on his toes {and in his mouth!} though he wasn’t so sure about the cold river water on his toes….

We’re already planning the next river trip, it really is one of my very favourite places to spend the day. But first we really have to get this house ready to move us all.

He’s so cute now he’s sitting up! I love that stage, where they look so delicately balanced, like a wobble doll, except when they fall over they don’t bounce up again.

[…] fun The river is one of our favourite places to visit, I could happily spend the whole summer in that one spot. […]
