This pregnancy, the one thing I’ve been craving is fresh fruit. Actually, that’s what I’ve craved all four times. I’ve also found that I really need to have a snack mid-morning and mid-afternoon, else I start to feel really rotten by the time it’s lunch/dinner. I’ve been making a big smoothie most days – fresh fruit to satisfy my craving and keeps me going until it’s meal time again! The girls love helping make them too {and drink them!}. With the hot weather we’ve had the past few weeks, they’ve really hit the spot.
So when Lactofree asked me to create my favourite summer smoothie for their ‘Summer Smoothie Challenge’ I was excited to take part. They kindly sent me a bag of fresh fruit as well as a blender to help me create a smoothie.
I opted to make a berry blast smoothie with a minty kick. Fresh berries is one of my favourite things about the summer months – and they make for a delicious smoothie. Here’s what I used:
1 handful raspberries
1 handful blueberries
1 handful strawberries
1 banana
1 cup Lactofree milk
3 mint leaves, torn
Icecubes
Place everything into your blender and whizz until smooth, add a few ice cubes and whizz again!
This was incredibly delicious, I loved the addition of mint – it’s not something I usually add to my smoothies but it worked really well. Do you have a favourite smoothie recipe?

July 24, 2014 at 09:36Oh nice smoothie. We were experimenting over the weekend too but I wasn’t brave enough to add the mint (Greig said let’s make Mojitos with it instead ha!).

July 24, 2014 at 16:50We love smoothies, but my boys hate the pips. We made a lovely one from pineapple and coconut milk and froze the leftovers and it made even nicer lollies

July 24, 2014 at 22:58That’s a great reminder to get some more fruit in during all the hot weather leaching vitamins from us. Especially if you add some crushed ice – wonderfully refreshing!

July 25, 2014 at 23:35Kaycee made a banana smoothie for herself and Ella today and it took them about 5 seconds to down it! She’s asked if she can make more with different fruits so I now have to stock up on berries and things for them :)

July 29, 2014 at 05:49Smoothies are great, especially for children who may not realise there can be so much goodness in them. I love that you can try so many different combinations of fruit and veg – I’ve tried carrot in a smoothie before, which was pretty nice.
