A bank holiday weekend
Hope
We bought all we needed for a delicious Sunday Roast, pototoes, veg, yorkshire puddings, beef for Papa and Lola and some butternut squash roasts for me! Morrisons have just lowered prices on a lot of products, meaning the roast worked out around £2 a head! We stocked up with lots of other lovely goodies for a picnic on Monday as well as the things that we would normally buy for a weeks shop too. We spent more than we would normally for a week, but that was as we bought a few extras this time ;)
We made yummy Ice-Cream Sundaes for dessert after our roast dinner – simply crumbled brownie pieces, layered with vanilla ice-cream and topped off with oreo pieces. So delicious!
Monday’s picnic was fun, if a little chilly, the kiddos rode their bikes, Papa and I had a little laze on the grass! All in all a fun, lazy weekend, hope yours was too!

May 6, 2014 at 09:15You can’t beat a picnic – and if it’s dry on the floors, let’s eat outdoors! Who cares if it’s not sunny!

May 6, 2014 at 09:37I rarely shop there as it’s a real trek for us, and they have such a limited “free from” selection. Looks a great spread you got there- lovely day for a picnic too!

May 6, 2014 at 11:18wow, lots of food! i’m same with kate, in regards to the limited ‘free from’ and the nearest morrisons (that i know of) is down by the bay which is really far away when you don’t have a car.

May 6, 2014 at 12:11I’m glad your bank holiday was so much fun! My boys never care what the weather is like, so long as they are picnicking! We have no Morrisons in our area or anywhere I know of. They need to come to Southampton (or make themselves known to me!)!

May 6, 2014 at 12:39I love a picnic! I was quite impressed with our nearest Morrisons, but as it is the next town along and I prefer to do without the car when possible, it will be an occasional place to shop rather than replacing our regulars!

May 6, 2014 at 13:22I really like Morrisons, I find a lot of their fruit and vegetables are so cheap! I love the big stores with the steam coming out of the fridges too! x

August 27, 2016 at 00:17Ka;ni,&lbsppFor what are probably obvious legal reasons, I went with a corporate name that could not be construed to be a real company operating in the GM space. On a humorous side note, during drafting of the novel the name of the company was San Monto Corporation, a too-obvious reference to Monsanto, which is, of course, the largest company in the industry (along with Syngenta, Bayer, and others). Yes indeed, there is a financial services company called Vanguard, but they have no agricultural aspirations, so far as I am aware! If they do, I’m sure I’ll be hearing from their lawyers.

May 24, 2017 at 12:50Good for you! As a teenager, I remember my mother ripping an Erica Jong novel from my hands and throwing it into the fire. And it was a library book. Let me just say that had she discussed the book with me or why she didn't think it was appropriate, I probably wouldn't have remembered reading it. Your daughter was respectful by asking you and the discussion it led to is priceless. Well done, mama!

May 7, 2014 at 03:58Do you mind if I ask approx how much your weekly shop is? We live on an island and food is expensive, but, i think it’s getting worse, and i seem to be spending more and more. I wonder whether I could do better with meal planning, or whether it’s just that the price is so high. Thanks x
