Mothers Day

Mothers Day collage

Happy Mothers Day! I was actually born on Mother’s Day, being three days late I always joked that I hung on to be my Mama’s gift on such a special day ;) I love that picture of me and my Mama up there, as well as the one’s of me with my girls. It’s only since becoming a mama that I’ve realised just how important our Mum’s are to us. How much they love us and how much they do for us. One day really isn’t enough to show them how thankful we are that they are in our lives.

As a little girl, I loved my Mama fiercely {not that that ever really changes}, I grew up knowing that she was always there for me no matter what. When I was hurt she was there to dry my tears, she gave me hugs when I needed them and played games with me. I remember running into her bed every morning for a cuddle – what better way to start the day?!

Now that I have littlies of my own, I get to experience all of this from the other side. Nothing beats the feeling of waking up with one of my girls snuggled into me. Of being told that I’m there favourite Mama, or the best Mama in the world {and not just said because they want something ;p} I never thought that I wanted to have children, but now I could’t imagine a life without them. They are my reason for being and my reason for doing all that I do. They are my biggest inspirations.

I’m thankful for having such a wonderful Mama, who showed me what it is to be loved, and how to be a great Mama to my own children. I just wish she was closer so we could spend the day together. I know my girls will be excited for today – last year Kiki was so excited that she woke me up at 7am, shaking me to come downstairs because there were gifts!! No lie-in for me!! Really, though, I don’t mind… nothing beats homemade cards and lovely chosen gifts and spending the day with them.

Such a great pic of you and your mum. Mamas are the best and it’s amazing how much we appreciate them more when you’re one yourself! x

The picture really is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen.

One of my interests is to write stories of women who raise their own children and homeschooling – though with much more severe (though voluntary) privations like eating one or no meal a day when not pregnant or lactating, and observing extremes of quiet, prayer and simplicity of dress – all though wrapped up a in a very strong ecological consciousness. The ideas are familiar, but I would love to put my own fictional spin on them – and there is for me the element of taking them to extremes not possible with the size of government in Europe as we know it. (I will as a last word say I want to make these stories really, really distinctive and like nothing people know of this sort!)
