Christmas Cocktails

It’s getting pretty chilly here now  – here are 4 of my favourite alcoholic Christmas Cocktails for this time of year. They’re the best way to warm up – hands and belly ;)

Hot Chocolate with Baileys

I love Bailey’s Irish Cream… add a {generous} splash to a mug of hot chocolate and I’m in heaven!

Hot Cinnamon Cider
It doesn’t get better than this! Here’s the recipe I use:

  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1tsp allspice
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated orange rind
  •   1 ltr cider

Place everything into a large saucepan, and heat for 20 mins over a low heat. If you’re having a party, or just want to keep some warm all evening, transfer it into a slow cooker on low.

Irish Coffee
add a shot of whiskey and a little sugar to black coffee, top with a squirt of cream

Hot Buttered Rum
add a small knob of butter, 1 tsp sugar, a little cinnamon, a dash of vanilla extract and a shot of rum to each mug then top up with hot water.

Ahhh, for the Irish Coffee one time I just added the whisky to the coffee without sugar or cream: and it was astringently gross.  Good to know the actual method to make it!
