Weekending: Thinking of Amsterdam
This
 Asides from the Jaap Ice-Skating rink that is open from October to March, if the temperature remains at minus four centigrade for four nights in a row, Amsterdammers can take to the canals on foot or skates.
 Visit the IceBar where you can drink from a glass made of ice in minus ten degrees celcius! {Might be a bit too chilly for me!}
 Stay at the CitizenM – it’s walking distance from Schiphol Airport.
 Visit the Festival of Lights – the canals are beautifully lit up from the end of November until the middle of January
 See the Royal Winter Palace – the official Royal Home since the 1930’s when Queen Wilhelmina moved in and made it her cold weather base.
 Enjoy a real fire- many of the cafes and restaurants have open fires – perfect for warming yourself up by whilst you enjoy a coffee!
 Check out the museums, if you have an ‘I Amsterdam City Card’, you’ll get free access to tall the major museums over the winter period!
 The Winter Wonder Walk, begins and ends in Dam Square and gives you a great guided tour of the city.
 If there’s no snow, you could visit one of the indoor ski centres for some skiing or snowboarding fun
 Warm yourself up in a ‘Bruin Café’ – the Dutch equivalent of a pub!
