Good mornings start with Ready Brek

A good breakfast makes such a difference – start the day off right and everything else seems so much better. Two of my kids love breakfast, the other two aren’t such big morning eaters. I pretty much always have a bowl of oats first thing – I workout before I eat, so by the time I’m making breakfast I am starving and in need of something good and filling.

As a kid, I LOVED Ready Brek on those cold winter mornings when I was up early for school. Drizzled with some maple syrup, it always warmed me up and kept me full until it was lunchtime. These days I give the maple syrup a miss, I usually grate in some carrot or courgette, add a pinch of cinnamon then top with some sliced bananas or berries, as well as a sprinkling of ground linseeds.

Ready Brek is great for kids who don’t like lumpy porridge or just prefer a smoother consistency. THere’s no added salt or sugar, it’s packed with calcium, Vitamins D and B12, plus you know it will keep their tummies full for a good few hours. Mine love to top their own bowls of Ready Brek. I’ll op out a variety of toppings, nuts, sliced fruit, maple syrup, raisins, peanut butter to mix in and let them make their own. Smiley faces on his breakfast always make Beastie smile in a morning!

I love that it’s quick and easy to make {no microwave here, so I mix mine with hot water and heat through on the stove}, nutritious and filling – ticks all the boxes you need a breakfast to tick as a Mama. We experimented the other day and used some Ready Brek to make these tasty carrot cake bites. They make for a quick, fairly healthy snack – great to grab mid-afternoon when we’re dashing out the door to take the kiddos to their various clubs/groups!

I N G R E D I E N T S

125g Ready Brek
2 tbsp Peanut Butter
2 small carrots, finely grated
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ginger
1 tbsp ground seeds {I used a mix of linseeds and sesame seeds}
3-4 tbsp Maple Syrup

Pour your Ready brek into a mixing bowl, and stir in the cinnamon, ginger and ground seeds. Then mix in the grated carrots. Stir {or rub in, depending on how runny it is} the peanut butter, then add enough Maple Syrup to bring it all togheter into a ball.

Shape into small balls {we got 16 out of this}, refrigerate for a couple of hours before enjoying!
