Journaling has a lot of positive benefits, it’s been proven to improve mental health, it’s a fantastic way to boost your personal growth and get an insight into yourself. I find it a powerful way to tap into my subconscious, work out what it is I really want, what I am feeling, areas I am ‘stuck’ or things I need to let go of.
Writing has helped me immensely through heartbreak and to recover from that grief and loss.
I try and write first thing in the morning, as suggested by Julia Cameron in The Artist’s Way. Even ten minutes with my morning coffee, free writing, allowing all the thoughts to pour out of my mind, unedited. Amongst all the words, often I’ll find a gem – a true insight into myself.
