5 Habits That Will Make Your Mornings So Much Better

How you start your day has a significant effect on how the rest of your day goes. If your morning is hectic, and you rush to get out of the door, you might not have the best day. Making your mornings happier and easier reduces anxiety and stress while also giving you time to plan your day. Here are some things you can do to make mornings much better.

Exercise

Exercising in the morning means you have to wake up a little earlier, but the benefits far outweigh any perceived downsides. Getting a good workout right after you wake up stimulates the body and mind and gives you a sense of accomplishment that cannot be taken away regardless of how the rest of the day goes.

Stay Away from Electronics

Many people start their day by checking the news, email, or social media accounts. Doing so starts your day in a state of panic. Also, you are likely to get very little done if you spend the first thirty minutes after waking up scrolling your favorite platforms. Instead of stressing yourself and putting yourself in a state of anxiety and panic in the morning, wait until you have exercised and had some breakfast before checking your phone.

Invest In Your Quality of Sleep

Getting good sleep is crucial for getting your day started right. Your quality of sleep is dictated by the amount of sleep you get as well as its quality. While you should ensure you get seven to nine hours of sleep every night, getting three to four hours of REM sleep will leave you feeling relaxed the following morning.

There are several ways to get better sleep quality. You should start by getting the right mattress. Ensure the mattress is comfortable and has a level of firmness that is just right for you. You should also adjust your sleep posture to reduce back pain over the long term as well as acid reflux and apnea while you sleep.

If you consistently wake up with a dry mouth, you should know that a dry mouth while you sleep can cause sleep disturbances that make it harder to reach REM sleep. There are various things you can do to reduce its occurrence. One of these is using strips that keep your lips together every night. This is a very effective option that will let you say goodbye to waking up with a dry mouth.

Other options include hydrating before sleep, checking if any medications you are taking are causing this, and seeing a doctor to see if the dry mouth is being caused by structural issues.

Get a Good Breakfast

Breakfast is very important, which is something that needs to be reiterated even if you have heard it before. While a cup of coffee and a muffin might sound like the ideal breakfast, it is not. You should aim to get a healthy breakfast every day.

In case it is not feasible to make a full breakfast every morning, you can do it the night before or three times a week. Choose foods that make you happy and full, but that do not make you crash before lunch like some breakfasts with lots of caffeine do.

Slow Down

Most mornings feel terrible because they are hectic. Instead of waking up, getting ready and immediately rushing through the door, wake up a bit early and spend some time doing something you like. In addition to exercise, you could read a book or express yourself creatively in some way. Some people find making the bed in the morning a great way to slow down and be with their thoughts before starting their day.

There is no right or wrong way to start your day seeing that everyone is different. However, you can adopt some habits that make your morning easier and better, giving you the start to the day that you deserve.
