5 Ways to Make Your Bathroom a Relaxing Oasis

The bathroom is often seen as a place of function rather than relaxation. However, with a few simple changes, it can be turned into a soothing oasis where you can escape the stresses of daily life.

So, if you are wondering how you can change your bathroom to help you unwind at the end of the day, then here are five ways to make your bathroom more relaxing:

Invest in some luxury items

When it is time to rest after a long day, you are probably thinking about getting into a nice hot bath and washing away the day. However, it is not really relaxing with a scratchy towel or old loofa.

Now may be the best time to invest in a few luxury items that will make your bathtub experience a soothing and calm one. Take a look at some fluffy bath towels and hair towels, as well as a couple of bathrobes (you can never have too many) to enhance your bath time.

This will be a great accompaniment to relax you at the end of a long day. Do not skip past these when you are creating a warming experience for your senses.

Use soothing colors

Paint the walls or add accents in calming hues such as blue, green, or lavender. You do not want to go too dark when you are painting, so opt for the lighter shades of these colors when decorating.

Going too dark can make the space feel enclosed and even smaller if you already have a small bathroom. It can also cause some people to not feel as relaxed as they would like.

Go for light and bright to open up the area and provide a crisp look to the area.

Play soft music

Create a relaxing atmosphere by playing soft, calming music in the background. This can be anything from Jazz to Lo-Fi sounds. Have a listen to different genres and see which ones make you feel more relaxed when listening to them.

When you have picked out the genre/genres that you want, make a playlist and have it hooked up to some speakers placed in your bathroom.

Just make sure that they are away from any water, and you can play the music one after the other without having to get out of the bath to change tracks or skip ads.

Use aromatherapy

Aromatherapy can help to reduce stress and promote relaxation. Add a few drops of lavender oil to your bathtub or diffuser.

Lavender oil is not the only essential oil that can be used to aid in a relaxed atmosphere. The following oils can be beneficial also –

  • Rose
  • Chamomile
  • Bergamot
  • Ylang ylang

You may want to try mixing and matching them to make different scents. Be aware of overpowering smells though, as too much can give you a headache and that is not going to help the relaxed feeling you wanted.

Invest in a comfortable bathmat

Make sure you have a soft, comfortable place to stand when you get out of the shower or bath. A plush bathmat will make a world of difference.

Just like the bathrobes and the towels, you need to pamper your feet too, so take a look at some super soft mats that can protect your feet and keep them warm when you step out of the bath.

This is good for stopping any slips and falls also, especially with oils being used. They can cause a major slip hazard if not washed off properly, so a bathmat is not only a great addition from an aesthetic point of view but from a safety one too.

By following these simple tips, you can turn your bathroom into a tranquil retreat that you can enjoy at any time of day.
