Christmas Shopping and Poorly Babies

Hey there, these weeks roll around pretty quickly? My kiddos are on the countdown to Christmas {well, they have been for a while, to be honest!} – we’re now at less than two weeks until our Pines and Needles Christmas Tree is delivered. I probably need to think about clearing a space in the living room for it at some point soon-ish.

Kiki and Baya were away Monday to Friday with their Dad, visiting family and seeing LIttle Mix live. It was so quiet here with *only* three children {and Lola was at school in the day times}. We caught up with a few friends, ate out, had a chippy supper, and got tiny baby cuddles while they were away! Beastie was very glad to have them home, as was I.

There was another trip to the cinema on Thursday, this time to see Song of the Sea. If you get the chance, watch it – it was a wonderful film. Based on the story of the Selkies, it was beautifully animated and a really sweet/sad telling of the tale.

We’d planned to go watch the Christmas Lights get switched on Thursday evening, but alas it poured with rain so we stayed home and curled up with a movie instead. Sometimes it’s just nice to get your PJ’s on and not have to go anywhere or do anything, not that we get much chance of that very often.

I’ve been trying to put less on my to-do lists each day, though that is no mean feat. I swear even if there were five of me I still wouldn’t get everything done. But I’m trying hard to let go of the things that don’t matter, let a few bits slide and try and make my days a little easier and less stressful.

Poor Oren hasn’t been well. He was ill for a few hours on Monday, slept and had a high temperature and then make a speedy recovery. But come Friday he was ill again. Full of cold, and had a cough, and given the insane amount of dribble he was doing I’m guessing he was teething too! All he wanted to do was cuddle and sleep, and have boob. Thank goodness for slings, he spent three days in there which at least meant I had my hands free and could still get everyone else fed and sorted!

I did manage to do a little more Christmas shopping over the weekend. I finished off our stockings, and a couple of family gifts. I’ve been wrapping as I go, knowing that with Oren, I won’t be able to do a mammoth all-day session as I have done in the last few years. Now I’m almost done, I have a few things arriving this week, and need to order the last bits on Tuesday and then we should be set. Phew. I much prefer it when I get it all over and done with before December hits, and then I am free to enjoy the festive season without stressing over gifts.

I wish Sunday’s were twice as long, it’s the most restful day we get all week, and it would be nice if we had longer to just lounge around before another new week began.
