Ways to reignite your inspiration

</p

The past couple of weeks, I’ve felt more tired than usual and lacking much inspiration. I’m not ill, not unhappy, still have the mojo to get stuff done, I just haven’t felt, well, inspired at all. I’ve struggled to think of things to write here, the book I’m halfway through is sitting untouched, as is the painting I started, and four books I’ve picked up, read a page and put back down.

It’s been bugging me, as usual, my head is swimming with ideas, yet right now it’s just swimming with all of the things that I have to remember. Homeschool stuff, business stuff, house stuff, kid stuff…  There is so much boring information in there, that I have no space left for inspiration. I have just read a book called The Rainbow Way, which I actually read a couple of years ago, that is a fantastic read about creativity and motherhood. As a single parent, everything in our family is down to me, and with kids home 24/7, there isn’t much ‘me’ time.

While I build some art and crafts time into our weekly schedule, when I can join in, and try and have some project on the go {such as my weaving} that I can do whilst watching shows with the girls on their movie nights, I am longing to sit down and write this damn book. I have ideas for another, but not the space to put it into action. I’ve been feeling frustrated this past week at not having that inspiration to sit down and let it flow out of me, to not feeling a million new ideas buzzing around my head.

Rather than let that frustration grow {which usually makes my lack of inspiration even worse}, I’m trying to find ways to re-ignite my inspiration. Here are a few ideas for when you’re feeling uninspired

* Break my routine ~ we all get trapped into routines, motherhood and family life make it hard to avoid. But sometimes swithging things up can help you feel inspired again. I’m going to re-jig our daily routine to give me some dedicated time in the morning to work on my projects.

* Get some extra sleep ~ be it a nap or an early night, the more refreshed you feel, the more likely you are to be inspired! I know I’m extra tired right now, so forcing myself to bed early for a few day.

* Watch a TED talk ~ I love TED talks, here is a list of 10 that will help to boost your creativity.

* Take a break ~ if creativity is your livelihood, it can feel scary when inspiration dries up. But taking a break compeltley gives your mind a chance to unwind, and the space to let your imagination run wild.

* Try something new ~ break away from your usual medium, and try something else just for fun!

* Get outdoors ~ nature always helps me. A day out in the woods is the best cure I know for lack of inspiration or loss of your mojo!

* Watch a movie ~ let your brain switch off and sit back and watch a movie. I’m a huge Wes Anderson fan!

* Go to a museum ~ or an art gallery and let yourself be inspired by what you see.

* Re-do my inspiration board ~ I have a pinboard that works as my inspiration board in my office, if I’m feeling a lack of inspiration, I like to clear it off and fill it with fresh inspiration.

* Play some music ~ I can’t work in silence if I’m creating I have to have music playing. Make a new playlist on Spotify of new music to inspire you.
