Review | Medela Swing Breast Pump

When Oren was on the way, I debated whether to even bother pumping this time around or not. I don’t find pumping easy, and never have seemed to get very much milk- and with no partner to help out with feeds, I wondered if there was any point.

In the end, having been sent this Medela Swing Breast Pump I decided that I’d give it a go again and see what happened.

It turned out that this pump made all the difference!

Medela is a wonderful brand to be in touch with. Along with the extensive information already on their site (breastfeeding tips and advice, making breastfeeding part of your lifestyle, information on the extensive research Medela carries out, information on breastfeeding and premature babies and information for professionals), they are always on hand to answer questions on Twitter or Facebook.

I found the pump easy to set up, the instructions were clear and easy to follow, assemble the parts, plug it in and you’re good to go. The controls are straightforward too, and you can adjust the speed to match your baby’s suck.

I found that it quickly and effectively collected my milk, 10 minutes and I was set – so you’re not sat tied for hours, I found the Oren usually only fed on one side at a time, so I’d use the pump on the other side a couple of times a day.

The kit comes with milk storage bags, so you can freeze the milk you collect for later, as well as some bottles to collect the milk in and use to feed. It’s a fantastic addition to your breastfeeding journey, making it easy to get partners involved, collect milk for if you have to go back to work, or just in case you need to be able to leave your little one!
