Kitchen Makeover

I finally got the time over the last weekend to re-do my kitchen. It’s a tiny room, the walls were the yellow I put on a year or two ago, but they were a little grubby and I’d kind of fell out of love with the colour. The cabinets – well, I’m guessing they are older than me! They certainly looked it! They were a dated looking and the beigy colour looked a little, well, dirty.

Here’s the before:

I picked a can of Crown Cupboard Makeover paint in Ivory for the cupboards. I took all the doors off the cupboards, and went outside to paint! It went on easily, I brushed it on, then went over with a mini gloss roller to remove any brush strokes. They looked instantly refreshed!

Once the cupboards were painted, it was time for the walls… duck egg blue was the colour I chose. By the time the walls were painted, the cupboard doors were dry and ready to be re-hung. As Baya said – it doesn’t look like our kitchen anymore! I’m in love with the colour, and the blue coupled with fresh cabinet fronts really brightened up the whole room.

I love my little kitchen, now it’s so bright and cheery – I especially love that the windows overlook our garden, so I can watch the girlies playing while I’m cooking! And now I’m impatient to decorate the rest of the house!

I love your kitchen Polly and I’m made up that the sun is hanging on your wall.

I have your painting on the top of our fireplace until we finish sorting out things in our living room and then it can go on the way, but it does look lovely on there anyway.
