Dream dining places in London

We’re hoping to take a trip to London in the New Year. the kiddos are desperate to go, and it has been years since I visited. I used to go quite frequently when I was a teenager, and I am so excited to revisit some old haunts. We have a long list of places we want to visit, sights we want to see and things we’d like to do. I used to love visiting Camden Market as a teen, hanging around and seeing the sights and sounds of such a bustling place, watching the world go past and imagining what life would be like if I lived there.

With four kids in tow this time, it will be a whole different experience of London to what I’ve had before. I’m planning on finding an Air B’n’B to stay in for a few nights, as it gives us a little more flexibility than a hotel, and we’ll be able to cater for ourselves a little – at least breakfasts and lunches, is the plan. There are so many amazing places to eat out in London though, there is no chance I could visit without making the time to try at least a couple of them out.

I’ve started putting together a little ‘dream list’ of places I’d love to eat when we go, thanks to the wonderful SquareMeal website, they are a restaurant review and booking website and a smartphone app, that has reviews of 5,000 London and UK restaurants and bars.

Here are a couple of the places to eat that are currently topping my dream list:

Bottomless halloumi brunch at Las Banderas, Soho – unfortunately just a pop up, so it will be gone shortly – but this is a cheese lovers dream! Imagine halloumi finger hash sandwiches, and halloumi served with scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, and sourdough – AND bottomless prosecco!

* Brunch at Frederik’s in Islington – A perfect spot for Saturday brunch – expect croque monsieur with kassler ham and Gruyère, as well as a banana and chocolate waffles. Yum!

Little Kolkata, Camden – Bangladeshi food, varied choice of sharing dishes and reasonable prices in the heart of Camden, this place is a must visit for me, and the menu sounds delicious.

Afternoon Tea at One Aldwich – I’ve always wanted to go for afternoon tea, and at One Aldwich it would be an amazing experience – designed to reflect the delights of an old English sweet shop, think miniature Wellington and bitesize quiche in place of the usual finger sandwich selection.

Mexway Mexican Grill – I’m a big lover of Mexican food, so this restaurant in Croyden is definitely on my list.

If you have any recommendations for fantastic places to eat, or amazing dining experiences in London I would love to hear about them. While I’m all for being spontaneous and stumbling uponamazing little restaurants whilst wandering around, it’s also good to have a list of recommended places to eat before you go, especially with kids, you don’t always want to be wandering around with rumbling tummies hoping to find somewhere worth eating at!
