Garden design trends in 2018

Friday was almost spring-like here, still a little chilly, but the sky was blue and the sun was shining. I cleaned the house, hung the washing outside and swept the front yard. I had quick five minutes in the back garden, looking at what needs doing before Spring. I’m totally ready to be able to spend more time outdoors again. Last Autumn the kiddos and I planted a load of flower bulbs in the planters, and they are starting to pop through. Love those first signs of life after winter.

Last year I cleared out the flower bed to grow some veg in, it was moderately successful, though not as much as I hoped. I’m thinking of putting in a couple of miniature fruit trees, as well as some fruit canes, and then sowing lots of wildflowers.

Whether you have a tiny city garden or a few acres, outdoor space can be beautiful and practical. It’s all about working out what works best for the space and your needs.  If you’re looking for some inspiration for your space, Rattan Direct have come up with a really useful guide to garden design trends for 2018 – from rewilding to winter barbecuing, they’ve got you covered!

What are your garden plans for this year?
