A cosy living room area

Ah! While spring may be a little way off yet, I always find January gives me the urge to do a little early ‘spring cleaning’/decluttering/reorganising in my home. I LOVE the festive season, I couldn’t wait for my Christmas Tree to be delivered, couldn’t wait for us to decorate it as a family on the 1st December, I love seeing the house decorated and festooned in decorations. But…. by the time Christmas is over, and the New Year is on the horizon, I’m oh-so-ready to take it all down and pack it away for another year. For me, the New Year feels like it should start off with a blank slate, not last years decorations. With a late December birthday, I do take some of Christmas down on the 27th so I can put some birthday decorations up instead, though the tree always stays until the 1st/2nd.

We had a huge, gorgeous real tree again this year, which was definitely the focal point of the living room for all of December {Lola complained it blocked her view of the TV it was so large}. So when it comes down, the room suddenly feels twice the size and so airy.

When I was a little girl, I loved moving my bedroom around so much. I’d spend hours figuring out where I could move all of the pieces of furniture too, convinced each time it would be the ‘magic’ arrangement. This carried on into adulthood, in my last house we had a living/dining room and I swapped the ends over many times – usually late at night after the kids were in bed, meaning they woke up and cried ‘it looks so weird’ haha!

My living room is one of my favourite spaces in this house. We’re lucky enough to have a playroom and a den, so the living room is more of a ‘grown-up’ space, a chill out room that isn’t overrun with toys {except on Christmas morning!}. It’s a serene space, full of some of my favourite pieces of art, my books and record collections, mountains of cushions, warm and cosy throws, a million candles and plenty of lamps.

It’s the room of lamps – I’m currently running at three floor lamps and two table lamps in here. I love the soft ambiance they create, ceiling lights are fine for dull daytimes but come the evening, they are so harsh and cold when I’m looking to create a warm and cosy space to curl up, play some incense and read a book.

The newest addition to my lamp collection is this gorgeous, gorgeous copper tripod lamp from First Choice Lighting. When it arrived, it looked even better in person than it did in the photos, and it ties that corner of the room in perfectly. It’ my favourite corner to curl up with a book in – but only if I can snag the chair before the kittens do!

I received the lamp in exchange for this review. All words and opinions are my own.

That’s a very cool looking lamp. I also love your corner shelving area, it just looks so cosy.
