Review| My First Scalextric

I never had a Scalextric as a kid {and I don’t think my brother did either}, but I do remember playing with friends ones and it always being lots of fun. Someone had suggested Beastie would like it, but I thought it would be something that we’d need to wait a few years until he was a little older. That is, until, we came across Hornby’s My First Scalextric.

It features a simple, easy to clip together {and take apart} figure of eight track, two 1:64 scale cars and matching red and yellow controllers. It’s designed to let younger players have just as much fun racing cars! I was impressed just how easy it was to clip together, and while too hard for my 3 year old, the bigger kids could all manage it fine. Once set up, you plug it into the wall, place the cars on the starting line and you’re ready to go.

Aimed at 3+, but fun enough that big sisters are happy to play along, it’s the perfect toy to while away cold, wet winter afternoons. It’s the perfect introduction to the world of Scalextric for little ones, simple to use, the cars generally stay put on the track {though occasionally they got stuck and needed a nudge}. Not only is My First Scalextric great for hand/eye coordination, it also helps to develop motor skills and manual dexterity.

My First Scalextric is fully compatible with the Micro Scalextric range of sets and cars, meaning if your kiddo develops a love for Scalextric you can extend your track and add new cars.
