Five Reasons to Change Over to a Shower Screen

bath, sink, mirro

We all know how expensive it can be to redecorate or remodel your bathroom and you’re probably on the look-out for cheaper and effective ways to bring a new look and feel to the place.

One really easy and cost-effective way to freshen up your bathroom, whether done alone or as part of a bigger project, is to change your drab old shower curtain over to a shower screen. Here are five reasons why you should search up shower screens @ betterbathrooms right away.

Shower screens last longer than curtains

They’re typically made of glass and usually have anything from a ten-year to a lifetime guarantee. They’re built to last and they will, with the right care, look as good as new for years to come. Most people end up replacing their shower curtains once a year or so, usually after a few months of looking at the creeping mould…

Screens aren’t necessarily the more expensive option

Obviously, you can pick up a cheap shower curtain for a fiver, but it’ll look like you picked it up for a fiver. Chances are, too, that it’ll last a few months before it rips, or the rings break, or it becomes grubby and depressing. There are more expensive curtains as well – anything from £20 to £50 – and while these will last longer than the £5 one, they will still need to be replaced after a year or so. Shower screens, on average, cost from £60 to £100, but they last for at least ten years. Do the math…

They don’t cling to you

That cold, clammy embrace, first thing in the morning, is one of the biggest downsides to having a shower curtain. If you have a particularly powerful shower, it’s impossible to have a curtain because it’ll waft inwards, ruining the moment and getting in the way. Showering should be comfortable, efficient and leave you feeling clean.

A screen is so much easier to clean

No matter how diligent you are, you’ll soon start to see mould developing on your curtain, or the fabric starts to crack, the design starts to wear off… Before too long, the curtain looks dingy and old and this can really bring down the look of your bathroom; the mould in particular can affect people with asthma or other breathing problems, too. If you’re in a hard water area this happens even more quickly, whereas a glass shower screen won’t harbour mould and all it takes is a wipe-down with shower spray to bring it back to its sparkling self.

You can choose your own style

Shower curtains offer a huge range of colours, designs and patterns, it’s true. However, shower screens come in different shapes and sizes too, as well as in different types of glass. You can choose clear, frosted, patterned or textured glass, as well as curved, sliding, swinging or static.

What a screen offers that a curtain never will is longevity and class; they’re modern and confer a sophisticated, elegant look to your bathroom without breaking the bank.
