You are so loved

Dear Baya

EIGHT! I can’t believe you’re eight already! My littlest lady, these years have flown by far too quickly. In my mind you’re still the toddler who used to love sitting on the kitchen counter, taking bites out of the block of cheese whilst I made dinner for you and your big sisters. You were the baby of our family for five years, but you’ve adapted to being a big sister perfectly.

It’s bittersweet watching you grow, and on your birthday morning, my memories on Facebook gave me glimpses into all the previous birthdays you’ve had… I could see you grow and change in those photos right before my eyes. As much as I wish you could stay little forever, it’s equally beautiful to be able to watch your flourish and grow, see you becoming your own person a little more every year.

You were always so very desperate to catch up with your big sisters, never wanting to be left behind, running as fast as your little legs could carry you to keep up with them.

You’re such a sweet soul, so kind and caring, always thinking of others – you even let your little brother help open your birthday gifts as he was nearly as excited as you were. You’re a wonderful reminder in always trying your hardest and never giving up. Watching you spend countless hours practising gymnastics and being brave enough to compete in front of a room full of strangers is such an inspiration to me… the thought of that makes me nervous!

As we get older, sometimes we forget a few important truths, so here are a few nuggets of wisdom {that I need to remember too} I would like to share with you;

* Always start the day with a smile
* Never stop dreaming
* Always remember how loved you are
* Try your hardest
* Be kind to everyone
* Never stop looking at the world in wonder
* Keep being curious.

Your softness and strength is a wonderful combination, and I’ve no doubt it will take you far. Thank you for being you, and all the wonderful hugs and loves you give me.

I love you to the moon and back,

Mama
x

    That’s a beautiful letter. I love the idea of that combination of softness and strength. I think we all need that.
