Just So Festival, 2016

With Summer upon us, we’re getting excited for all our plans! We’ve made a last minute decision to go to this year’s Just So Festival. It runs from the 19th-21st of August 2016 at Rode Hall Estate, Cheshire – which is just a little drive away for us. We’re not sure yet if we’re going to camp or go in for the days – it will depend a little on weather/G working etc but we can’t wait! We have friends who have been for the past few years and sing it’s praises.

The Just So Festival is an annual weekend-long camping festival for children and their families. The festival provides a magical experience where art, music and literature are embedded and entwined in a beautiful and wonderous landscape. There is a broad range of musical, theatrical, and visual performances, workshops and installations all in a safe, natural and magical setting. Every clearing and glade holds a new way to unleash creativity.

We’ve heard such amazing things about previous years festivals, and the paln for this one sounds just as fun. You will be able to dance like wild things to a fantastic line0-up, including the headlining folk act Skinny Lister. They’ll be foot stomping and wild whirling and swirling at Jitterbug. More unmissable music and dance performances and workshops include the first chance to squash, roll, pop and squeeze in Sponge, the premiere of the new show by participatory dance artists Turned On Its Head and Around The World in 80 Notes with Melanie Ash and Jade Jagger. In the eccentric Village Green you can meet some of the UK’s favourite children’s authors, who will be sharing the best new books out this year and take part in a sports day with a difference – toddler jousting or pillow fighting anyone?

The Village Green is the place to be for the Tribal Tournament. The Fox, Frog, Owl, Fish, Stag and Lion tribes will compete in ridiculous games and all manner of unexpected shenanigans. Break codes and solve mysteries to win points! Find your tribe on festival Sunday and take part in the Tribal Parade, a Just So highlight.

Ah I was hoping to go but Sam is away the week before on a trip that’s been planned months so can’t afford it. Next year I’ll have to book in plenty of time. Look forward to hearing all about it, have a great time.
