Interiors | A bathroom refresh

Our upstairs bathroom in this house is lovely – it was brand new when we moved into the house, and after having had a bathroom older than I am in my last house, that was such a treat! It’s a fairly big room, with lots of light, a nice white suite, white tiles & grey grouting, grey walls and a grey floor. Basically that meant that while it’s lovely and new nad clean, it felt cold and clinical. I used to love soaking in the tub, but noticed that since moving here I never felt so relaxed and would just have a quick dip. I figured after a year of living with it, it was time to sort it out!

The lovely folk at Ocean Finance got in touch as I was midway to getting myself in gear to sorting the room out, and asked if I’d like to take part in their ‘Dream Room’ campaign – perfect timing as it meant I actually got this project finished!

When we moved in, we realised that there wasn’t any storage in the room – so we popped in our old changing table to tie us over. I finally got around to replacing that with something that looked much nicer – after hours {literally} of debating what to buy, I ordered this unit and I’m really pleased with it. I went for white so it matched the suite, the cupboard is big enough to hold some spare towels {the rest live in the downstairs bathroom} and the drawers are perfect to hold all of our junk cosmetics/bath products.

We popped along to Dunelm Mill to pick up some new bits for the bathroom. I wanted to add a pop of colour to bring some warmth to the room, and decided on a nice sunny yellow. New towels and bath mat have really helped to warm the room up and make it feel a little cosier. I also kept the yellow theme going with a plant pot for some baby aloes and one of my Orla Keily coffee jars for storage.

We picked up a new bamboo blind for the window which has made a huge difference – while privacy was never an issue, the big open window left the room feeling cold. With half the window hidden behind the blind, the room really feels much warmer and cosier. I picked a few other accessories to mirror the bamboo of the blind – wicker drawers, laundry basket, a shelf unit and a big basket to hide all the bottles in on the side!!

With a few plants, some scented candles and some Lush for my bath, the bathroom feels like a much more pleasant space to relax in now!
