Entryway Makeover Inspiration

We’re really lucky in this house, that we have a huge downstairs hallway. It’s actually ‘split’ into three – there is a vestibule when you first open the front door {where we keep umbrellas and raincoats} then another door that leads to the main entryway [curretnly our pushchair lives here, and we have an old bureau that’s a general dumping ground!!}, then there is another small space, that the second hallway leads off and is under our stairs [this is where we keep all our coats/shoes and stuff}. It’s probably as big as the whole living space was in our old house, and it’s so nice having space to keep all our stuff – six people make for a lot of coats and shoes {and we have 4 pushchairs!!}

We haven’t really done anything to the space since we moved in, there are coat hooks up, and a shoe rack, and as I mentioned the bureau in the first space. But I’d like to make it look a little nicer, as well as have better storage. G is planning on building a custom shoe rack that will fit the space under the stairs for me. I cant’ decide whether to keep the bureau or switch it for a sideboard that has more storage. If I keep it, then it certainly needs a coat of paint! I’d like to add a houseplant or two to the main entryway, maybe a mirror to reflect a little more light around and some new art work.

We have a grey carpet down that runs through the whole downstairs, so that will have to stay {as much as I’d love some wooden floorboards!} but I’m thinking maybe a rug or two to add some colour and texture. There is currently an awful old chandelier light fitting, which I’m planning on replacing too. It needs to be a practical space, and I don’t want to spend too much money, but it’s the first part of the house that visitors see so I’d like it to look a bit nicer {and have the mess hidden}.

I’ve been pinning away some inspiration if you want to have a look at what ideas I’m thinking about.

    Nice ideas, I love making over smaller areas of the home as they’re not such a massive undertaking but they still make a big difference especially the hallway as it’s the first and last thing you and others see each day. xx

    Fab ideas and I love the sideboard with the mirro above pin, to reflect the light! Spot on! I can’t wait to see what you get up to! x

    I love all of these! I like that little three shelved thin on the wall for letters and bits and bobs, and I love your main picture too.

    Ooh love some of these ideas! We’re “blessed” (!) with a narrow and cramped hallway which we did up last year – still dream of having a wider space and a proper porch area though!

    Can’t wait to see what you do with the space! I only have a tiny entryway in this house and I miss storage – it’s invaluable for a family x
