Friday Feels

friday feels

I’m totes doing a little ‘thank goodness it’s Friday’ dance right about now. This week has flown by but still felt too long. The boy has been a bit out of sorts this week. Not sure if he’s teething, or ill, or what. We’d gotten back into just one night wake-up {which was BLISS} then this past week we’ve been averaging four wake-ups. ZZZZZZZZZ. I’ve got a little bit of a cold too, add in exhaustion and I’m frankly feeling a little bit pants. Not sure if it’s just tiredness, or a touch of the blues. I could do with a week’s sleep and another week somewhere hot and sunny to recuperate I think!

My Dad and his wife came for an overnight visit this week, which was lovely… sometimes it kinda sucks living so far from family – how nice it would be to pop round for a cuppa, or have them over for Sunday Lunch. Visits with him, or my sister, or G’s folks always make me feel we’re missing out slightly on those family times. Still, it’s given me a kick up the butt to get a couple of trips organised, I’m’ hoping to head ‘home’ to Lincoln soon-ish and perhaps to Kent in the summer – my girlies can’t wait for some time with their cousins.

Baya has had her gymnastic hours increased – she’s on the development squad, and was doing two nights a week, 4.30-6.30. Now she’s there three nights a week from 4.30-7pm – add in Kiki’s Tuesday night session and we seem to be spending half our life at the gym! Those two spend so much of their free time practising gym at home – crazy how bendy they are!

We received a copy of the new book by Emily Gravett not long ago. ‘Tidy’ is a funny rhyming book, set in a woodland about why it’s bad to be too tidy and why it’s ok to be a little bit messy. Needless to say, the kiddos love it. Beastie loves spotting all the animals nad making the right noises {that boy knows his animals}. We’ve read several of Emily Gravett’s books and love this one just as much as the others. It’s a great story, perfect for teaching children about the changing seasons and why it’s important to look after our environment.

I lucked out the other week and won this bundle of goodies from the fab Go Aesthetic – how perfect is that moon pot holder?! Thecandles will be lighting my baths, and I need to find a home for the felt ball garland too.

We’ve had crazy weather this week, sunshine, rain, snow, hail… kinda like having all four seasons in the space of a week! The kiddos and I are off to a home ed group today – my one day I get to sit around, meet up with friends, drink tea and eat cake and not have to run around doing a million things at once. I’ve been making more of an effort lately to not work at the weekend – isn’t always possible, as sometimes I just have too much on and not enough time in the week. But when it works out, it’s bliss. SO nice to have a couple of ‘slower’ days, to spend with the kids and potter around the house. I’ve a few new recipes I want to try out this weekend if I get a chance. I’m trying to clean up my diet a little. Less cake, more veg. That kinda thing…. hoping it will motivate me to get my butt back on the cross trainer too – really need to get back in shape.

First though, I may have to eat some {all} of these stroopwafels. But they’re only mini so I can justify a couple right?! They were one of G’s favourite treats when he lived in Holland {pre-marriage}, and as it was Kind’s Day in the Netherlands on the 27th, HEMA sent us some traditional treats. We’re saving the sweet mix to enjoy with a movie over the weekend.

Here’s to the weekend… fingers crossed for sunshine and sleeps – I’m not asking for much!
