Our Easter weekend
Easter
Baya had a fab birthday, and we had a lovely visit from G’s folks. Good Friday was a beautiful day, warm and sunny and oh so springlike. We took the bus to Trevor, then hopped off for a walk along the canal. We were told {ahem, G} that is was three miles, that quickly turned into a four and a half mile trek. Still, it was lovely walking along, with ice-creams, and lamb spotting, stick throwing and lots of chatter. We finally made it to Llan, very ready for a drink and some dinner, and just in time for our dinner reservation. I enjoyed what was probably the most appreciated glass of cider I’ve ever had, and stuffed myself full of risotto and a chocolate and salted caramel tart for afters.
We all had a great time, it was so nice having family over for part of the holidays – sometimes it’s kinda strange having no family close by – especially come these holidays, when you see all your friends having family time, parties and gatherings and it’s just the kiddos and me at home, as always.
The rest of the weekend is probably better left un-talked about. The girls were excited for an Easter Bunny visit – though we had tears before bed on Saturday night when Baya realised she’d forgotten to buy a cream egg to leave out for Easter Bunny. Oooops. Thankfully, having kiddos means there is always a reason to get up and on, to enjoy the day and their excitement even when it’s the last thing you feel like. The kiddos all lucked out with baskets and eggs left out for them, Sunday was mostly spent watching movies and eating chocolate. Not a bad way to spend a day, huh?
My birthday turned out ok.. I wasn’t particularly feeling like celebrating to be honest, after the weekend it was the last thing I felt like. The kiddos , however, were excited for me, and their excitement proved to be a little contagious. I had cake, a bacon butties, some lovely gifts and pennies to treat myself to some new clothes. Dinner was cooked for me, and I was excused from the washing up too. We ended the evening with a glass of Prosecco and a movie {Zoolander 2 which was pretty funny}.
And now I’m 35. This weekend was a bit shitty, but I found I’ve a whole heap of love and fab ladies right behind me, reminding me that I can do this, and am stronger than I think. 35 – crazy really, how fast these years go. I’m tired of wasting them on people that don’t have my best interests at heart, no more spending time on people who sap my energy, who want to whine and complain about how hard life is, or how bad things are. I think sometimes we end up doing things because we feel guilty, but life’s far too short for guilt, no? Life is what you make it and I’m determined to make this the best year yet. {sorry, totes didn’t intend to get so philosophical ha!!}
Here are a few more photos from our Good Friday – hope that your Easter was a good ‘un!
