Bonzun – the only pregnancy app you’ll need

bonzun pregnancy app

One of the big differences I noticed when I was pregnant last time was that there were all of these pregnancy apps around to let me find out what was going on with my body and baby each week. When I was pregnant the first three times, I didn’t have a smartphone {heck, I didn’t even have the internet!!!} so I read a couple of books, but that was it. Being able to read up on what was going on each week was fantastic, seeing how the baby was growing, and what were normal symptoms for me to have were great – the only thing was there wasn’t just one single app that covered all I wanted to know.

Pregnancy is a beautiful thing, but it can also be a little scary. Watching your body grow and change, and nurture another life within can create some worry too. It’s all so different and unknown that we don’t always know what is normal and ok, and what isn’t. What I found myself wanting was a place that would let me check my symptoms out and tell me if what I was experiencing was normal, or if it was something I should speak to my midwife about.

Bonzun is a new pregnancy app that offers just that. This fantastic app uses the test results (blood pressure, bloods, urine etc) of mums-to-be to enable them to track and monitor their own health throughout pregnancy and spot early warning signs of health complications such as pre-eclampsia and foetal distress. You can enter all your test results and it inputs them into a graph and gives feedback on the results which can really help to put your mind at ease. It also features a baby movement tracker which, if used regularly, can alert you if your babies movements are unusually quiet.

The app was created by a Swedish entrepreneur Bonnie Roupé, who suffered from pre-eclampsia herself in her first pregnancy – so she understands just how important early detection can be. The app still has the development tracker that I so loved – letting you know how big your baby is each week and what it is capable of doing. You can even connect family members to your account to let them join you on your journey – could be a lovely way to keep daddy involved and in the loop throughout pregnancy.

While I’m not pregnant now, I had a little play around with the app and wished I’d had it when I was expecting Vega. It was easy to use, well thought out and really detailed in its week by week breakdown of pregnancy. I know that I would have appreciated the symptom checker as well as having somewhere to track test results too. It’s a little bit like having your own personal midwife that you can keep in your pocket!

I’m with you, I didn’t have a smart phone when I had my babies and first time around I’d never ever used the Internet, let alone owned a mobile phone! I think there are probably pros and cons – I know a lot of people like the reassurance, but I guess if you don’t use it sensibly it could just make you worry even more!

This sounds great, I would have loved it first time round! I had about ten apps on my phone and used to check them each day (second time, not so much). It’s made me weirdly nostalgic for that time now.

That looks like the cleverest thing! I agree – no smartphone for me first time round. Weird.

OMG what a wonderful idea! I’m a total micro-manager on EVERYTHING in life so this would have been perfect to use when pregnant, just so I could be confident the Docs knew what they were talking about ;)

As a pregnant mum, this looks really interesting. I imagine it would worry some people but as long as you use it sensibly it could be useful.

you look like a beautiful pregnant mermaid in that pic! I used to love pregnancy apps, especially when it was before the stage you could tell people about being pregnant and talk about it publicly! x
