My morning skincare routine

morning skincare routine

While I’ve always done the whole cleansing/moisturising thing, it’s only recently that I’ve invested in some good products.. before I’d use whatever I had – often what was on offer, or I found in whichever shop I happened to be in. part realisation taht I’m not getting any yougner {35 is less than a month away!} and part having serious sleep-deprivation affected skin, after Christmas I realised that it was time to pay a little more attetnion to what I was using on my skin and to treat it a little better.

Sleep deprivation has taken a toll this past year {that’s what a fourth baby will do to you!}, add in some crazy hormones, 14 months of breastfeeding and my skin was a mess. Da circles, dry and tight yet also oily in parts and with more spots than I had as a teenager and I felt rubbish. It might seem silly and trivial, but we see our face every day and have to show it to the world. We can’t hide it under a jumper {well we could, but that would look a bit weird!}, and taking a little extra care of ourselves is so important. ANd if it makes us feel good then it can’t be bad can it?

I start with this Super Facialist Rose Hydrate Calming Creamy Cleanser. I massage it in to my skin, then soak a washcloth in hot water, hold it over my face for 30 seconds or so then rub the cleanser of in a circular motion. It smells gorgeous {which makes me happy first thing in the morning} and leaves my skin feeling really clean without feeling dry or tight at all.

If my skin is feeling extra dry, I use a little of this Green People Facial Oil. I avoid putting it around my mouth and chin as that’s where I’m most spot prone, but around my eyes and across my cheeks it is fantastic at banishing that dry/tight feeling and keeps my skin feeling hydrated all day long.

Next I use the Super Facialist Rose Hydrate Radiance Day Cream, which again smells gorgeous and does a fab job of moisturisng my skin. It’s not too heavy on the greasy patches, but rich enough to moisturise the drier patches.

For at home days, I don’t pile on much makeup, but I do like to use a tinted moisturiser to even out my skin tone just a little. At the minute I’m loving this Green People tinted moisturiser one. It has an SPF of 15 for a little sun protection, and is just enough even out my skin without looking like I’m wearing a face full of makeup.

I add a little of this Maybelline Baby Lips Balm and Blush on my cheeksĀ for a hint of colour, and a slick of Lanolips Banana Balm on my lips and I’m good to go!

That dry/oily mix has always perplexed me – how can my forehead for examples feel flaky at the same time as oily enough to fry an egg?!

Love the Superfacialist range – it’s so good, isn’t it? And not too pricey. I need to sort out my skincare routine in the morning, it’s usually whatever is to hand (if anything!) x

It really is a great range. Night time is my downfall- I can never be bothered come bedtime to wash my face and faff about!!
