Life, lately

Ah! December! Seems the whole world is in full-on Christmas madness right about now! I *think* that I am almost ready, I just have the most enormous pile of wrapping to do {though I don’t know when I’m going to fit that one in!}. I’ve been trying to pull together a few bits ready for Vega’s brithday party too! Trying to keep it simple and not stress myself out more than absolutely necessary! The past couple of weeks have been full of festive cheer. Our tree is up, we’ve been making a few decorations too…paperchains and dried oranges. The big kiddos race downstairs to open the advent calendars every morning.

We took a trip to the IKEA at Warrington last Monday. We’re working with them on their ‘Live Lagom’ project over the next few months, looking at living a little more sustainably. We went to do our shopping trip – the girls were very excited by the huge shop! I’ll be talking more about Live Lagom in the next couple of weeks, but we’re really excited to be a part of it and looking forward to trying to save energy {and money} and be a little more eco-friendly.

We took a stroll to the local Christmas market last Thursday evening. It’s one of my favourite things to do each Christmas, it always gets me in the mood and is great to pick up a few stocking fillers. Growing up in Lincoln where there was a huge Christmas market every year, Christmas wouldn’t feel like Christmas without a trip to the market – wrapping up warm, eating mince pies and smelling all those Christmassy smells… Christmas Markets can be full of magic and seasonal cheer.

While Christmas is alwasy full of lots of yummy goodies to eat, I’m trying to make a few healthier choices – I’ve been trying out this delicious yogurt drink from Optiwell as an alternative to snack on that isn’t so full of calories.  The kiddos were excited to get some brand new stunt scooters c/o Halfords last week {actually, so was Papa!!!} We had a fun afternoon at the skate park {um…. HOW does Kiki look so grown up in this photo?!}

I have a mountain of work to get finished this week, hoping to have all Christmas and birthday preparations finished by the weekend too, then I’ll be taking a  couple of weeks to just spend with my little family and enjoy Christmas! i can’t wait for a rest ;) Are you all set for Christmas?
