Christmas in the City

We took the kiddos to Liverpool last week for a mini break, to spend a little time exploring the city and to see all the Christmas lights. We didn’t go last year before Chrismtas {as I was too pregnant and grumpy!} but we’ve been a couple of years previously and the girls love seeing the lights. We decided to stay over, as although Liverpool is do-able in a day for us, we’d have to leave fairly early to get the last trains home {and babies in bed} and wanted to ahve a bit more time to see everything.

We managed to pick probably the wettest day in weeks to go – but still managed to have fun! We headed down to the Docks first and took a walk around the Maritime Museum… Vega loved crawling around and looking at the boats and out of the windows. After we took a wet and windy walk and found some shops selling American Sweets which made for a very happy Kiki! I stocked up on some Candy Corn while I was there too!

After chilling for an hour in our hotel, we headed back out for the evening. We stayed just by Liverpool One, so we took a stroll round a few shops, then headed upstairs to Pizza Hut for some dinner {kiddos pick} where we ate way too much food and had the most delicious salted caramel cookie dough for dessert! We took our full tummies to the ice rink and fair rides – the girls happily had a few rides even after all that food!

We took a long walk around the city in the dark, looking at the Christmas trees and all the lights. Vega loved seeing the lights so much – he was really excited! There were a couple of places where there were giant snowflakes being projected onto the ground and Baya had a blast running around on them! We also managed to see the Poppy Installation at St Georges Hall.

After a sleep and a fab breakfast, we walked back through the shops and spent a couple of hours in the World Museum. The kiddos didn’t want to come home – we love Liverpool, it’s a fab city to visit for a mini-break or even a day trip. Seeing all those Christmas lights has really put me in the festive mood now!

Here are a few lots more photos..
