A day out with iCandy

One of our favourite places to go for a day out is the nearby town of Llangollen. A pretty little market town, it’s the perfect spot to get away from everyday life. There is a park, a river, an ice-cream shop and a great second-hand bookshop. It’s a half hour bus ride away, so not too far to pop for the day or even just a morning, but far enough that you can forget about the to-do list for a few hours!

Because I don’t drive, and we don’t currently have a car, we travel by bus and train a lot. Since Vega arrived, we’re back to having to take a pram with us when we go out. Sometimes it can be tricky to fit a big travel system on public transport. If there isn’t space to wheel it straight on and I have to collapse it that can be difficult especially if I’m traveling on my own with the children. Try carrying a pushchair, bags AND baby and you begin to wish you’d stayed at home!

We got offered the chance to test out the iCandy Raspberry, and after reading some great reviews such as this one on Babyworld, it seemed like the perfect pushchair for when we’re traveling.

We took it out for a road test for a picnic in Llangollen last week, Mr V certainly seemed happy to be out for a ride!

Our first stop was a walk along the river, it’s such a pretty spot nestled amongst the mountains.

Having been used to big travel systems, I was impressed with how lightweight the iCandy was, easy to fold up and really easy to steer – while it went along the bumpy path here with no problems, it would also be great in the city as it spins around and is small enough to fit into small spaces.

picnic {complete with lots of hungry birds and ducks!} Mr Vege enjoyed his first paddle in the river and his big sisters ran around splashing and catching pigeons!

By lunchtime our tummies were rumbling, so we carried the pushchair down on to the rocks in the middle of the river for a picnic. Vega enjoyed his first paddle in the river, and the girls ran around splashing and feeding the ducks.

All the fresh air and splashing wore the baby out, so he had a snooze while I sat back and watched everyone else play. Unfortunately, it decided to rain! We had a mad dash to pack everything up and run to the nearby bandstand to finish our picnic!

Thankfully, it was just a short shower, so we finished off our day out with a stroll around the town before hopping on a bus back home.

We had a great day out, and I’m looking forward to testing out the iCandy on the train soon! When I travel to London I usually have to sit in the quiet carriage if I don’t want to collapse the pushchair – as this is so easy to put up and down it will make it much easier and mean I can sit in a not-so quiet carriage!

Really like the colour of the pram, it’s so unusual! Sounds like this would be a good London pram, especially on public transport x

Oh my goodness, I LOVE that breastfeeding photo!!! Sooooo beautiful. It’s great that this pushchair is parent-facing and lightweight – seems a hard combo to find.
