Center Parcs, Sherwood Forest

A *few* snapshots from our trip last week to Center Parcs Sherwood Forest. Why do holidays have to go so fast?! We had a slightly disastrous start to our trip when our hire car broke down, 30 miles into the journey. Stuck at the side of the motorway, thankfully teh RAC came quickly, but as the problem wasn’t fixable we had to wait another hour for a big tow truck to come that could fit the car on and all five of us in. We got towed back to the garage in Wrexham, where thankfully they had another car waiting for us. A quick switch over of luggage and we set off again. So instead of arriving in Lincoln at 3pm, it was around 8pm… we spent a couple of hours with my Mum and G’s parents on Sunday evening, then called in to see my Dad and biggest brother on Monday morning before driving to Center Parcs.

The girls were so excited to be there again, after unloading our stuff into our villa, we went for a swim. Last time we went, Baya was only 3 so she couldn’t remember what it was like – she was crazily happy at how fantastic the swimming pool was! And her excitement continued all week long. Waking up on Tuesday morning to ducks, squirrels and a bunny outside our windows was so much fun – especially as one little squirrel was very friendly and kept coming right inside!

We’d booked a few activities in for the girls this time, Pony Pals for Baya, a cupcake decorating class for Lola and an Aerial Adventure for Kiki [alongside Papa]. They loved the activities, coupled with swimming a couple of times a day, playing in the parks and on the ‘beach’ and running around in the woodland behind our villa we had a fantastic week.

Baya made friends with a cygnet, who came to visit us every morning for his breakfast, alongside his three siblings and Mum and Dad! The girls thought it was funny to have a whole family of swans to feed.

We lucked out and the weather stayed lovely, there was a little rain the first evening after we’d gotten ready for bed, but the rest of the week was warm and sunny. I think we all enjoyed a week’s break, so much so that no-one wanted to come home on Friday! Baya cried most of the way home as she didn’t want to leave her cygnet friend behind. To beat our post-holiday blues, we booked another trip as soon as we got home. We’re heading up to the Whinfell Center Parcs next March – the thought of that holiday will keep me going through the winter, and these sleepless nights I have ahead of me with a newborn!!

You can’t beat Centre Parcs can you? I LOVE the pool – that bit where you go outside and the water is warm and the air is cold is just bliss.

Sorry it had such a bad start but great news you had a brilliant time in the end! We’ve never been to Centre Parcs but they look really good once you have children. I always thought when we were growing up that the whole thing was under a giant plastic dome, not just the swimming pool – oh dear xx
