Dressing Baby Boy

Baby Boy Wishlist

ONE // TWO // THREE // FOUR // FIVE // SIX // SEVEN // EIGHT // NINE // TEN

After three girls, when I found out I was expecting baby number four, I imagined more pretty dresses, tutus and all things pink… so on finding out that this one was a boy I was a little stumped as to what I was going to dress him in. I took a walk around the high street to see what was on offer, and realised that there was much less of a choice for boys than for girls, and that what was on offer was a lot more boring. Well not all of it – but you have to search that little bit harder!

Thankfully, Papa and I both agree pretty much on what we like/don’t like… no to baby blue, cutesie, t-shirts with things like ‘Daddy’s little soldier’ on them…. yes to bright, vibrant colours and funky prints . I tend to keep my babies in babygrows for the first few months, one it’s way easier for dressing and changing than faffing around with fiddly clothes, plus, they grow so fast I like them to look like tiny babies as long as possible! I’m managed to pick up some first size vests and onesies in bright colours, and I have plans to dye some plain white ones too.

As baby boy will be in cloth nappies, I’ve been looking at leggings for him – I’ve gotten a few pairs similar to the stipey ones above, plus some long-john style ones too.

We’re planning on picking up a few band t-shirts for him, and I’ve gotten a snuggly, fleecy snowsuit for trips outside. H&M seem to be a good high street store for funky baby boy wear, and I’ve picked up the odd thing in here and there, but it’s much more hit and miss than looking for girls clothes. Gap and Pumpkin Patch have some good choices, and of course, Etsy – the antler print leggings are amazing aren’t they?!

Where are your favourite places to buy baby boys clothes that don’t cost a fortune?

I had a daughter first and relished the bountiful gorgeous outfits to choose from, then I had two boys and I have to hunt much harder for groovy things for them to wear – luckily I have knitters in the family and got them to make me lots of rainbow coloured things for when they were babies!

Aaw I love those clothes. I bought a few clothes from eBay with my youngest and got some great bundles. They grow so fast that the clothes were like new x x

When my son was younger, there only seemed to be brown and blue clothes for him. There seems to be slightly more variety now. We used to find Matalan and Asda were good for the early years as we found them affordable.

I hate slogans for kids too. Mini was in baby grows for ages, I never wanted to grow up. Supposedly Boots has some lovely baby stuff in

I’ve had so much fun dressing Theo over the years, it’s definitely not as hard as it seems! I love Zara for boys clothes, good design and well made.

I always struggled to find nice clothes for my son who was born after my daughter and that was much easier. Now days it seems that boys clothes are just as great xxx

I love these choices! I only have girls, which I’m really glad about, as boys just seem to get offered t-shirts with tractors on!

I love H and M and also tights / leggings for boys. I do find the supermarket clothing to be horrible although Tiger is obsessed with tractors so he would be more than happy to wear things with them on! x

I don’t like tops with slogan on either. I used to like dungarees for my son as he has a small waist so trousers were always too big.

I think it’s really tricky dressing boys if you don’t want run of the mill stuff! Talitha has amazing osh kosh handmedowns from her dad, though. Reckon you could find them on ebay.

Those antler print leggings really are amazing. I tend to buy quite a lot from ebay…I like the boys tights for when they’re at crawling age.

Aw, lovely baby boy clothes. When we had Danny, online clothes shopping wasn’t as great as it is today so with only a Woolworths shop in my town there wasn’t a lot of choice. Remember those days! lol. We went to London for the weekend and found cool shops selling baby Ramones Bodies etc and stocked up- we were so excited! From the ages 2-3 though I remember Danny just lived in fancy dress-haha! I’ll remind him of that later… Thank good ness for online shopping today. xxx

I agree with the babygrow and the body suits – mine rarely wore fiddly outfits unless they had been bought for htem as presents. Cannot wait to see your tie dyed baby clothes!

I have to admit it can be a struggle finding boys clothes – mine live in dungarees and playsuits
