Sun, sea and Bournemouth travelodge

After last years bad idea of setting of for Camp Bestival at 2am {why on earth didn’t the kiddos want to go back to sleep!?!}, we decided to travel a day earlier and stay over in Bournemouth the night before leaving us with just a 45 minute drive on Thursday morning.

We were offered a room at the Travelodge for the night. I’ve stayed in Travelodges before, and they’re always great. Great value, clean and comfy. All that you need for a night or two. The staff on the desk were helpful and got us checked in quickly, after six hours in the car we were glad to find our room and freshen up.

The double bed was amazingly comfortable! Seriously, the best mattress I’ve slept on for a long time {I kinda wanted to strap it to the car and take it camping!} The beds for the kiddos were comfy too. Fresh towels, tea and coffee facilities and a TV {that we didn’t test out} were also in the room. There was plenty of shelf space and hanging space if you were staying longer and wished to unpack. The en-suite bathroom was small, but perfect. I took full advantage of a soak in the bath and so did Miss Baya! Everyone else enjoyed a shower!

The Travelodge is only a ten minute walk from the seafront, and oh what a beautiful site. Blue skies and blue waters, a paddle in the sea is the best tonic after a long car ride. Chips on the seafront made for a perfect dinner.

We all slept soundly, despite all being in one room, and it being a warm night – those comfy beds did the trick! We headed down to the restaurant early the next morning for breakfast. For just £7.99 per person with up to two children eating free for each paying adult, the buffet style breakfast is great value. There was a selection of cereals, fruit and granola, cooked breakfast, toast, croissants and muffins to choose from. Also tea, coffee and fruit juices were available to drink. The kiddos were a little excited at being able to help themselves, and seemed to think that they had to test it all out ;) The food was delicious, and filled our tummies up ready before we headed off camping.

We enjoyed our stay, the room was perfect, the staff helpful and the breakfast delicious and great value. We’d definitely stay again!
