A Bedroom in A Box

Dulux Walltastic Princess Mural

When I was little, I always wanted a mural painted on one of my bedroom walls. Horses or princesses were the two main things I thought would look great painted on the wall. I never got one though, mainly as a) it would have taken a long time and b) it would have cost too much to have someone come and paint a picture on a wall. Miss Baya is in the midst of a Princess Phase, she eats, sleeps and breaths them right now. So when the new Bedroom in a Box arrived from Dulux, she very nearly exploded with glee.

The Bedroom in a Box is designed to be a quick ‘small change big difference’ solution for parents who want to re-decorate their kiddos bedrooms. The kit contains a beautiful mural {that fits an 8ft x 10ft wall} as well as coordinating paints for wall and woodwork. It’s a one stop shop for creating a beautiful bedroom for your little one, quickly and cost-effectively. You even get the adhesive to fix the mural to the wall.

The ‘girls’ box is a fairy princess theme – much to Baya’s delight! The mural itself is pretty and colourful, and I’m sure lots of little girls would be over the moon to have princesses on their walls! The accompanying paints are pretty, sugary pink colours that will complement the mural perfectly. As a busy mama, I love the idea of being able to just pick the box of the shelf and know I have all I need to create a stunning room for my kiddo. Dulux have taken the hard work out of picking coordinating colours making a parents job a little bit easier.

The mural comes in 12 pieces, complete with step-by-step directions as to how to apply it to the wall – it looks fairly straightforward and easy to follow. The only thing to check before you purchase, is if you need extra paint {The kit comes with enough to paint 32m2 , Dulux do have a paint calculator you can use to check}. The boxes cost £70 which given all that you get and the fact that it is a quality brand, seems reasonable to me – especially given they’ve taken the time spent choosing paints/wallpaper out of the equation!

You can see more about the Fairy Princess Bedroom in a Box here and Dulux have also produced a boy’s Bedroom in a Box which is a Jungle Adventure theme, you can see that one here. They are also working on some new themes including  Sea Adventure, Peppa Pig,  Avengers and Wall Art.

Cherry would have absolutely loved this up, she’s obsessed with princesses at the moment, I really don’t think J would have appreciated it though!! x

This is a lovely idea-be even better when more different mural options. I love the paint names especially the Jasmine White, as my youngest’s middle name is Jasmine lol xxx

Hmm…I think it’s a little bit of a shame that the jungle theme is for BOYS. I much prefer it and think I would use it in a playroom rather than a bedroom. The Disney one isn’t my bag at all, but who knows, it may be my daughter’s when she grows up a bit, so I’ll keep an open mind.

All in all, a good idea from Dulux for those stuck for inspiration for decoration though.

I agree with Eleanor, I hate for things to be divided by sex. I avoid buying anything that says FOR GIRLS on it. It looks pretty though, they just need to sort their marketing out ;) x

It is a great idea to have everything all in one box (and seems really good value for money considering big wall stickers are often really expensive!) But have to agree about the gendering of the designs. Are they bringing any more out? Would be interesting to see a bigger range and more unisex patterns x

I think it’s a really great idea especially for those who don’t have a lot of time or are nervous when it comes to redecorating as everything you need is in this box :)

See now I really want to see it up on a wall! I love the idea, but suspect I may not get the mural looking totally perfect…

like your girls I would have been SO excited about this when I was little! I think kids would absolutely LOVE it but I’m glad to hear they are bringing out more subtle ranges as ultimately its the parents that are buying them! x

I think this is such a great idea – everything in one place. We are not big into pink but I really love the idea of being able to pick everything up in one place!
