Our week in Lincoln

If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram you probably saw me mention last week that the kiddos and I were heading back to Lincoln for the week, visiting family. We headed back on Monday, four trains later my Papa was there to meet us from the train. We spent the first couple of days with him, sleeping at my biggest brothers house {in an incredibly comfy super-king size bed!!}. We lucked out with some sunshine and mild temperatures, the kiddos found two new parks to visit – one with a zip slide – I can confirm that was a blast!} To be honest, we didn’t do much else, just hung out and caught up with my daddy, his wife and my brother. It was nice to not be rushing around, and not working!

Wednesday, after another quick visit to the park, my Papa drove us to meet my Mama. The kiddos are always excited to go to her house, as she has a cute little dog called Annie. It’s always fun to take her for walks, and makes us all wish even more for a dog of our own! After a drive to help my Mama buy an iPad and new printer, we found yet another park – and a very much-needed Starbucks. Two days with only instant coffee was taking its toll, a scrummy Caramel Macchiato set that right.

Wednesday evening found us visiting G’s folks who only live around the corner from my Mama. I left the girlies with their Grandma while I popped with G’s papa to visit his Taid {that’s Welsh for Grandad!} He’s suffering from Alzheimer’s and has just moved to a nursing home in Lincoln, so I wanted to pop in and say hello while I was there. Unfortunately he’s been quite poorly last week, so it wasn’t really the time for the girls to go visit too.

Thursday we went up to the Bailgate area of Lincoln. It’s home to the 900 year old Castle, the Cathedral plus lots of really old buildings. It’s my favourite area of the city. We went in the castle, although they are currently regenerating it, so not very much was open. We did walk up onto a section of the walls that was open. Lola, Baya and I were not to sure about being so high, and the steps were a little scary but the view was so pretty from the top.

More dog walking, lots of fun at Gramsie’s house, a delicious meal out at a local pub and a visit to an old neighbour filled the remainder of our time there. We got home at dinner time last night, with a huge mountain of laundry. I need to get it all washed and dried, plus get caught up on work and housework as we are all off to Bristol on Monday morning, to meet up with some of my very favourite blogger ladies! I cannot wait :) Here’s a few highlights from our trip, parks we went to, places we saw and Baya’s Schliech horses who absolutely HAD to come too! Horse mad kiddo needed to take them with her wherever we went. We actually have a few Schliech animals, and love them. Really well made and withstand lots of playing with :)

We would have been absolutely in our element in that castle – it looks amazing! Quite keen to try a zip slide, too!
