Today We…

Today Papa and I finally got around to tackling the huge pile of wood that needed clearing, sorting and chopping. The bottom half of our garden was more of a jungle when we moved in, we’ve steadily been clearing more and more as time’s gone on. There was a huge pile we cleared earlier in the year that was dry at last, and another pile that I cleared the other week. It seemed a mammoth task when we began, and there were moments when we both wondered if we would ever reach the bottom of the pile! But we did. We now have a giant pile of kindling, enough to last us through the next winter, as well as a good supply of logs for the fire.

The other bonus is there is more space down the bottom now, gone is the huge pile that was threatening to engulf the girls climbing frame! I think the hens had a great day too, they love it when I garden, they spent the entire day under my feet eating every bug/worm/grub they could find!

After a late night and an early morning, followed by 6 hours of garden work, I am exhausted! Bedtime will have to wait a while, I’m going to my friends house for our knitting group tonight.
