Homemade Lotion Bars

DIY Lotion Bars

I love these Lotion Bars, I always have a few around the house. I us
e them for my hands, for my legs, the kiddos, and dry spots of skin. My husband swears by them to keep his hands from cracking when he’s on the building site.

The mix of coconut oil and sweet almond oil mean they are gentle enough to use on your face, but nourishing enough to sooth event he roughest hands. They are quick and simple to make, and fairly inexpensive. I much prefer using these that are made of natural ingredients than chemical filled products. As they are all natural they can be used on everyone in the family – even babies {Just be sure to check that any essential oils you are using are suitable for babies}

Melt all the ingredients in a double boiler, stirring until they are combined. If you want to add some essential oils, now the time! then pour into your molds – I use silicone cake trays – this amount made 18 bars for me. Leave for a couple hours to set, then pop them out.

Essential oil suggestions – myrrh, sandalwood, lavender are good for dry, chapped skin. I use around 50 drops of essential oils in each batch – either a single oil or a blend of a few. Young Living have a great essential oil guide if you need some suggestions.

You could also pour into little metal tins to make them handbag/pocket-friendly! A few packaged up together make a great gift idea too.

    just made these with the calendula oil I steeped with last years flowers instead of coconut oil, Polly these are amazing and so much easier than getting the water qty/temp right when trying to make cream with the same ingredients :) these will be a given in our house now too I think, now have to find a container which means I can keep one in my bag and take it everywhere I go :) xx
